Order of the Skywatcher Clan
Video Productions
Before The Skywatcher Clan registered as a non profit organization, the first four descendants had come together to form the core of science fiction and fantasy club called' The Omega Society which was under the management of Omega Ltd. Productions (now managed by the tribe). The Society expanded it's interests to amateur video production and over the course of a few years produced a number of videos with out the aid of CGI, blue screens or other kinds of advanced editing equipment. All special effects were created live as the video camera recorded. Of course, the videos were crude, almost like the first films that were created, but it was clear to see that every aspect was getting better with each new episode that was created.
With Omega Ltd. Productions now managed and owned by the Skywatcher tribe, the old videos were removed from storage and transferred to DVD for sale. Today, the tribe is investing into new equipment to start up the video productions again and even offer recording services to those who require low cost production.
THE COMMANDER- A science fiction series about a race of humans that descended from dragons who live on a world at the center of the universes. One individual, Commander Procyon, is dispatched to discover the cause of a disruption that is causing all the universes to collapse and this begin her adventures in time and space.
The series, as with all productions, were brought to a close when the old Panasonic VCR HQ camera started to fail along with the rest of the equipment. A fourth episode lies unfinished. All the live action was recorded and a few special effects miniatures needed to be record before editing could begin. This series clearly displayed how effects and other aspects of live filming improved as each episode was completed.
Three episodes in 20 minute installment format are completed and vary in length on a separate DVD per each episode. CRITICAL MASS is 82 minutes, CYBER NEMESIS is 75 minutes and TERROR OF THE ANUBIAN is 54 minutes.
DRAGONTALES- Based on a comic strip that was introduced into the Cosmo Rocketry Club's Skyward newsletter; as ALEX & DRAX, was originally suppose to be a six part mini
series. Unfortunately, production was halted on the fourth episode. Produced before the cartoon of the same name, Dragontales is about a spoiled, 10 year old, dragon named Drax who is sent to live in the Americas with the last heir of a British family.
With the better camera operator in the Drax costume, scenes, lighting and even the sound, did not come out as well as hoped (which is expected with an amateur production). Still, Dragontales is humorous as Alex desperately tried to lead his normal life with Drax in tow, going to meet his friend at a restaurant and going camping. The three episodes total about an hour on a single DVD.
THE PROFESSOR- was meant to be a series but was halted on its second episode; "Hershey Von Squirt's Monster". The series is about a weirdly dressed professor who is initially dispatched to a park where a strange toxic gas in killing visitors and wildlife. A science comedy that suffered the same problems that Dragontales suffered. Errors in the video tape and the rapid increasing malfunctions of the video camera barely managed to complete the first episode. The first episode is 53 minutes total on a single DVD.
TALES FROM THE CRACKED- A much simpler series made it to 18 complete episodes of skits and parodies. Most skits were
created on the spot at the Society's various meeting locations, some live animations, Renaissance festival, camping, bunny sacrifice, general silliness. Costumes, characters and props from the other series were used through out the 18 episodes. There are 6 episodes per DVD at 20 minutes each. There's 2 hours of episodes on each DVD. A fourth set of six episodes was recorded but again, malfunctioning equipment brought a halt to a continuing series.
Each DVD is $15 plus postage on a weight of 4 oz per DVD.
A new video production is being planned as new equipment is being acquired not only to record the development and flights of the Hawk Eye payload and tribal activities, but to provide inexpensive video production to those on a limited budget who want a documentary or commercial made. Details on this service will be made available after the new equipment is acquired. This will provide the tribe with income to replace the fading sales of arts & crafts.
Donations and purchases can now be sent using MONEYBOOKERS or EPASSPORTE.
